Artist Statement

When I consider the definition of beauty, my mind struggles to form one clear description. It seems to me that the majority of people today have a very black and white concept in their mind, reinforced by today’s media, of what beauty is. To me beauty lies in the grey area in between. Somewhere in this grey area there coexists a duality between the beautiful and the grotesque, the picturesque and horrific. I like to believe my work blurs the lines a little, taking an idea or event that is typically thought of as gruesome or macabre, and imbuing it with a sense of inner beauty.

Artist Bio

I was born in New York, and grew up on a steady diet of B-rate horror movies and caffeine. I’ve combined my love of the grotesque, unappealing, and deviant sides of human nature with the cathartic process of painting. I recently moved from California to Tennesse, where I continue to study art and the quirky behavior of mankind.
